My biggest 'dhan' is my family: Daisy Shah
India, Nov. 6 -- On Dhanteras, the festival of prosperity and well-being, actor Daisy Shah reflects on how her idea of wealth goes beyond traditional gold purchases.
"For me, it is about welcoming prosperity, positivity, good health, and happiness into our lives.... I feel wealth cannot always be measured by money or jewellery, but by the people we have around us, the love we receive, and the peace of mind we enjoy," she shares.
What does she consider her most valuable possession? For the 42-year-old, it is her family. "I would say my biggest Dhan, or asset, is my family."
Recalling her childhood memories of the festival, she says, "I remember the excitement around Dhanteras: cleaning and decorating the house, preparing for Diwali, and following little family traditions. Growing up, I also learnt that festivals are not about how expensive your celebrations are, but the emotions attached to them."
Regarding her Dhanteras purchases, Daisy believes in buying thoughtful gifts for her loved ones. "I believe in buying something meaningful, whether it is for the house or for family. The happiness of giving is much more special than receiving," she says.
While younger generations may be moving away from buying gold on the occasion, she believes traditional and modern investments can go hand in hand.
"Each approach has its own significance. Gold is associated with tradition and prosperity, while modern investments secure our future. Personally, I believe in balancing traditions with practicality."...
