Bhopal, July 22 -- The Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly passed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill by voice vote on Tuesday amid chants of "Jai Shri Ram". After Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Assam, Madhya Pradesh is set to become the fourth state to implement UCC. CM Mohan Yadav said, "The 76% of Muslim women and 40% of Muslim men in Madhya Pradesh have supported the Uniform Civil Code in the state. Separate religious yardsticks would no longer prevail in the state; instead, from Ram to Rahim and Anthony to Akbar, everyone in the region would be governed by a single Constitution." After the bill was passed, the CM, cabinet ministers and BJP MLAs raised slogans in the assembly , including,"Jo Hindu hit ki baat karega, wo desh pe raaz karega (whoever speaks for the Hindus' welfare, will rule the nation)" and "Jai Shri Ram".
