Move over ghosting, 'ghostlighting' is the new dating headache
India, March 15 -- Modern dating has no shortage of confusing terms, but the latest one making the rounds might be the most frustrating yet: ghostlighting. The behaviour blends two already familiar dating habits, ghosting and gaslighting.
Ghosting is when someone you are dating suddenly disappears. Messages go unanswered, calls are ignored, and the connection ends without explanation. Ghostlighting adds a more unsettling twist to that silence. The person vanishes for a while and then casually returns, acting as if nothing unusual happened.
What makes it more troubling is that instead of accepting the disappearance, the ghostlighter may pretend there was no gap in communication. They might brush it off with a vague excuse or imply that the other person misunderstood the situation.
