Mohali, Aug. 18 -- Police on Saturday registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions following a complaint by a 14-year-old girl from Himachal Pradesh against a Sector 118 resident. According to the initial information available, the incident allegedly took place around a month ago while the Balongi police registered a zero FIR on August 15. The case was registered under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and other sections of law. A zero FIR can be registered at any police station irrespective of jurisdiction and subsequently transferred to the police station concerned for investigation. The girl, who is a minor, is understood to be from Himachal Pradesh.
