Model alleges Kanye West assaulted her on set, shouted 'I'm Picasso'
India, June 12 -- A
model suing rapper Ye aka Kanye West has shared a detailed account of an alleged sexual assault she says took place during a 2010 music video shoot, claiming the rapper shouted, "This is art! I'm Picasso," during the incident.
Jennifer An, an actor and model who appeared on America's Next Top Model in 2009, spoke about the allegations on the BBC's Fame Under Fire podcast. In 2024, she filed a lawsuit against West, alleging that he choked her and simulated oral sex while filming a video for La Roux's In for the Kill. West's legal team has argued that the sequence was an artistic performance protected under the First Amendment.
Recalling the incident, Jennifer said, "I remember feeling so suffocated, unsure, scared." She alleged that West began choking her without warning, smeared her makeup and put his hands inside her mouth while cameras rolled.
"I remember him looking at me, like really intensely," she said, adding that after the sequence, West exclaimed, "This is art! I'm Picasso."
Singer La Roux, whose song was being filmed, has backed Jennifer's account. According to court documents cited by the BBC, the musician described the incident as "horrific" and said she had urged those on set to intervene.
Jennifer's lawyers said multiple eyewitness statements support her allegations. The case has not yet gone to trial.
