Mercury hits season's high at 42degC, heatwave alert till May 24

India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said mercury will continue its upward trend in the coming days and issued a yellow alert for heatwave till May 24.

According to Paul, warm and dry North Westerly winds are blowing over the region and it is likely to continue for the next 10 days and cause the temperature to increase further in the coming days.

The city's minimum temperature also increased from 22.9degC on Sunday to 24.6degC on Monday, though it remained 0.5 degrees below normal....
