Rajouri, May 18 -- A young man drowned after he was swept away by strong currents while taking a bath in a waterfall in J&K's Rajouri district, while two others were rescued from the rapids, officials said on Sunday. Officials said the body of the deceased was retrieved on Sunday afternoon -- on the second day of the search and rescue operation along the stream near Khorinar village in Darhal area.The deceased was identified as Mohammad Maroof, a resident of Thanamang Darhal.
The Himachal Pradesh education department on Sunday said that it is in the final stage of introducing all three streams -arts, science and commerce - in the newly affiliated 156 government CBSE schools across the state. A detailed report recently revealed that 18 schools were not offering all three streams. These schools lacked either the commerce or the science stream. The department said all the procedural and codal formalities are being completed to ensure a smooth rollout of all streams in these schools.
An artillery shell was found in a forward village in J&K's Rajouri district, officials said. A joint team of police and the Army rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, they said. Officials said the army's bomb disposal unit destroyed the explosive through a controlled blast as per safety protocols.
