Chandigarh, Aug. 27 -- The Municipal Corporation on Wednesday ordered the suspension of four officials with immediate effect for "negligence" in the discharge of their duties and "failure" to ensure basic civic amenities at the Sector 53 vending zone. According to the civic body, the action follows serious lapses in ensuring the provision and maintenance of basic amenities at the vending zone. MC commissioner Amit Kumar ordered the suspension of sub-divisional engineer (SDE) Rajbir Singh, holding the additional charge of executive engineer, MCPH Division 4; junior engineer Parag Raveesh, holding the charge of SDE; and Gurpreet Singh, holding the charge of junior engineer. In a separate action, Avtar Goraya, an enforcement inspector, was also placed under suspension. The MC cited "negligence" in the performance of his assigned duties. "Negligence, dereliction of duty and failure to ensure public amenities will be viewed seriously," the MC commissioner said....
