Chandigarh, April 17 -- Day temperatures shot up to 38.1degC on Thursday, the first time it has gone this high this season. It was 2.8 degrees above normal, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. On Wednesday, the city had seen a high of 36.8degC.The minimum, however, saw a drop - from 16.4degC on Wednesday to 16degC on Thursday.
Met officials said mercury may climb even further in the coming days and a weak Western Disturbance (WD) that is active in the region is unlikely to bring any rain relief. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 37degC and 38degC while the minimum will remain between 18degC and 19degC....
