Ferozepur, Feb. 14 -- A man was shot dead in an alleged incident of firing linked to an old rivalry and a minor altercation in Ghall Khurd village of Ferozepur district on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Hardeep Singh, alias Sonu. Police said he was a native of Boparai village in Ludhiana district and had been residing for the past few months at his maternal village, Ferozeshah. According to preliminary information, unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire at Singh, killing him on the spot. Several bullet marks were also found on his vehicle. Ferozepur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu visited the hospital and met the bereaved family members. The SSP said initial investigation pointed to an old enmity coupled with a minor dispute as the motive behind the crime. He added that a thorough investigation was underway and the accused will be arrested soon. Doctors at the civil hospital confirmed that the victim was brought dead with multiple gunshot injuries.
