Chandigarh, Feb. 10 -- A 60-year-old man was found charred to death inside his house in Maloya on Monday, police said. Police received information about a fire at a unit in EWS Small Flats, Maloya, following which a police party immediately rushed to the spot. On entering the house, they found a man's burnt body lying inside. During inspection, police found that the house had two doors and both were closed from inside, ruling out the possibility of forced entry. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the deceased was a habitual drinker and is suspected to have set himself on fire, police said. No signs of struggle or foul play were noticed at the scene, and the incident is being treated as a case of suicide, they added. The body has been sent for autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death. Further investigation is underway....
