Ludhiana, April 4 -- Division Number 3 police have booked an unidentified person for allegedly duping a 59-year-old man of Rs.1.5 lakh by swapping his debit card at an ATM kiosk. The complainant, Charanjit Singh, a resident of Mohalla Ambedkar Nagar, said he had visited a Bank of Baroda ATM at Dharampura near Baba Than Singh Chowk on March 29 to withdraw cash from his wife's account. He said he faced difficulty operating the ATM when a man present at the kiosk offered help. The accused allegedly guided him through the transaction and swapped his debit card with a fake one. Singh later realised the fraud after receiving transaction alerts on his phone showing that Rs.1.5 lakh had been withdrawn from the account at another ATM.
