Man dies of electrocution, another dies saving him in Kurukshetra
Kurukshetra, June 14 -- Two men including ex-serviceman died of electrocution at Bir-Mathana village in Kurukshetra district on Friday night after they came into contact with a high-voltage power line, police said on Saturday.
While Shamsher Singh, 42, died after touching the high-voltage power line accidentally, his landlord Prithvi Singh, 62, who retired as a Subedar, was electrocuted when he rushed to save him, the police said.
According to the police, Shamsher, an auto-rickshaw driver who lived in a rented room on the first floor of a house in the village, was cleaning his room around 9.30 pm when his hand accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage power line passing close to the structure.
Hearing his cries for help, Prithvi rushed to rescue him but came into contact with the live wire and suffered a severe electric shock, local SHO Randhir Singh said.
In the impact, both men fell into the gallery area below. Locals rushed them to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead, the SHO said.
Police have filed an accidental death report based on the statement of Prithvi's son, Prince. The bodies have been handed over to the families after post-mortem, the officer said....
