Man arrested for killing aunt over black magic suspicion
Hoshiarpur, Feb. 24 -- The police on Monday arrested the accused, who had shot dead the wife of a retired assistant sub-inspector in Mehandwani village on February 7 and recovered the .32-bore pistol with which he had committed the crime.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sandeep Kumar Malik revealed that the accused Rakesh Kumar is the son of the retired ASI's brother.
"Rakesh believed that the deceased, Rachna, did black magic on his family, which led to his father's death and his loss in the business. He came to kill her twice but got scared. On February 7, he came prepared with his plan, and when Rachna ventured out of her house to pay obeisance at a religious place, he shot her from point-blank range and escaped on his motorcycle", the SSP said. He revealed that the accused resided in Mehndwani and ran a readymade garments shop in Himachal Pradesh's Gondpur village. A case under relevant sections of the BNS and the Arms Act was registered at Garhshankar police station....
