Mamata alleges BJP 'scam' in exit polls, predicts TMC victory
Kolkata, May 3 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday in an address to counting agents via video conferencing alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is "scamming people with fictitious exit poll results and making huge money", senior party leaders aware of the developments said.
"Banerjee said the TMC will win more than 200 seats this time. She also said that exit polls were nothing but an attempt to manipulate the stock market. She accused the BJP of scamming people with fictitious exit poll results. They did it in 2021, 2024 and now repeating the same thing," said a senior TMC leader.
The results of the recently held West Bengal assembly election is scheduled to be announced on May 4. Earlier in the day, Mamata and TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held a virtual meeting with party leaders, including MLAs and MPs, and counting agents of 291 assembly seats, and told them that they should regularly update the leadership about the prevailing situation at counting centres and must remain there till the end of the exercise.
According to the party leaders, Abhishek Banerjee said that the party would return to power for the fourth time winning more seats compared to 2021.
The party had won 213 seats in the last assembly elections. The BJP had bagged 77 seats....
