Ludhiana, May 15 -- A local court sentenced a man to life imprisonment for bludgeoning his pregnant wife to death in Paramjit Colony in Focal Point. Due to the assault, the unborn child also died. The court sentenced the convict to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for the death of an unborn child. Both the sentences will run concurrently. The court of additional sessions judge Rajneesh convicted Pardeep Kumar of Uttar Pradesh, and also imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 on him for murder of his wife and Rs.10,000 for death of the unborn child. The case dates back to October 21, 2020, when the accused, who was reportedly under the influence of liquor, killed his wife, while his 5-year-old son was present there. Earlier, police had slapped Section 302 of the IPC following the statement of the victim's brother. Later, Section 316 of the IPC was added in the FIR after finding the woman was pregnant and the unborn child was dead. htc...
