Low-intensity blast at police station in Moga
Bathinda, July 9 -- A low-intensity explosion took place at the Sadar police station in Moga, located on the busy Ferozepur-Moga highway, on Wednesday, police officials said.
Officiating senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurbans Singh Bains said the incident caused no damage to the property or personnel deputed at the police station.
Asked if the objected hurled could be a grenade, the SSP said, "So far, we have confirmation that it was a low-intensity explosion. It is premature to conclude whether it was a grenade or any other explosive material."
He said forensic teams were collecting evidence and their report will explain the nature of the object thrown. Police are also scanning footage from CCTV cameras at the police station and entire stretch of the highway.
The incident comes two months after twin blasts outside high-security installations in Jalandhar and Amritsar within a three-hour span on May 5. The first explosion took place outside the BSF Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar. The second occurred hours later that night around 11.15 pm near boundary wall of Khasa army cantonment in Amritsar. No casualties were reported in either incident.
