Lawyer ends life, accuses realtor of Rs.4-cr fraud
Bathinda, March 31 -- A 32-year-old lawyer shot himself dead at his house in Bathinda late Sunday night. Before ending his life with a personal weapon, the deceased posted a video on Facebook and left a suicide note accusing a Chandigarh-based real estate developer of a multi-crore deception.
The deceased, who was son of a late Congress leader, alleged that he had invested between Rs.6-7 crore, but was cheated out of more than Rs.4 crore. While the video clarified that the lack of returns drove him to the extreme step, it did not specify whether the funds were for a direct property purchase or a business investment.
Bathinda superintendent of police (City) Narinder Singh confirmed that a case under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at the Canal Colony police station. The FIR names the developer and his two sons.
"We have recovered both the suicide note and the video. We are currently recording the statement of the deceased's mother. Further action will follow the investigation," the superintendent of police said.htc...
