Kurukshetra to host Somnath fest on May 11
Karnal, May 9 -- Kurukshetra deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena on Friday said a state-level programme for Somnath Swabhiman Parv will be held at the ancient Sangameshwar Mahadev Temple in Pehowa's Arunay village on May 11.
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini will chair the event. The DC said that prominent saints and sages from all the pilgrimage sites within the 48 Kos of Kurukshetra will take part in the event.
Meena said that under the "Somnath Swabhiman Parv--1,000 years of unbroken faith", Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the programme from Shri Somnath Temple, Gujarat and a live telecast will be shown in all districts.
"Somnath Temple is a symbol of India's invincible civilisation. Despite devastating attacks, the temple stands today as an example of our self-respect and courage. The path to the modern Somnath Temple was paved 75 years ago. On this day, the parv will be celebrated in a grand manner across the country. During this, Kalash Yatra, spiritual events, and programmes on India's heritage traditions will be organised," the DC added. htc...
