Kolkata, Sept. 5 -- West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Friday that a private school in Kolkata suspended a teacher for allegedly forcing a Class 5 student to wipe off his tilak from the forehead, and a police case has also been lodged. "A teacher from the Holy Mission English Medium School has been suspended for repeatedly forcing a boy to wash off his sandalwood tilak. An FIR has also been lodged against the teacher," Adhikari told reporters. School secretary S Chowdhury said the teacher maintained that she asked the boy to wash his face because the tilak melted due to sweat and got smeared across his forehead. "The teacher has been suspended until the matter is decided by the school management. Around 80% of our students are non-Bengalis and majority are Hindus. We never stopped anyone from following any religious custom," he said....
