Mohali, Sept. 3 -- Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Wednesday directed district officials to strengthen coordinated efforts against drug abuse through enforcement, treatment, rehabilitation and community participation under the Punjab government's'Yudh Nasheyan Virudh' campaign. Chairing a district-level review meeting, Kang asked officials associated with village defence committees and ward defence committees to promptly act on inputs and references provided by committee members to tackle the drug menace at the grassroots level. He directed the police to intensify action against drug peddlers and traffickers and asked the health department to ensure adequate outpatient department and in-patient department facilities for those seeking de-addiction treatment. Kang asked the district administration to facilitate employment opportunities for recovered youth so they could reintegrate into society and lead productive lives.
