Justice Mishra appointed as acting cJ of Punjab and Haryana hC
Chandigarh, June 2 -- Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the acting chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court following chief justice Sheel Nagu's elevation to the Supreme Court. The Union ministry of law and justice stated that the appointment was made by the President under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.
Justice Mishra was transferred from the Allahabad high court to the Punjab and Haryana high court in July 2025. He graduated with a BA (Honours) in Economics from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, and obtained his LLB degree from the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.
He was enrolled as an advocate on May 8, 1993, and primarily practised in civil, constitutional and service law matters. He was designated as a senior advocate in 2013. Justice Mishra was appointed as an additional judge of the Allahabad high court on February 3, 2014.
