Chandigarh, Sept. 23 -- After clearing logical discrepancies flagged during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the number of voters in the final roll has increased by only 2% compared to the draft electoral roll. The city had over 5 lakh voters before the commencement of the exercise, aimed at eliminating the names of deceased, permanently shifted, duplicate & non-citizen voters, according to the Election Commission of India. Lok Sabha member Manish Tewari took to Twitter to question the deletion of voters. He said that between June 1, 2024 and September 22, 2026, the city has lost over 1.9 lakh voters, which comes to 30% percent of the electorate. Full report p2...
