Jhota murder protest: Lakha Sidhana, 10 others released
Bathinda, Nov. 6 -- Gangster-turned-politician Lakhvir Singh, alias Lakha Sidhana, and Mohanjit Singh Sheron were released from the Nabha jail after a Mansa court order on Thursday following an agreement between the Insaaf Committee and a state government panel to end their agitation.

The police had registered a case against them under several serious sections, including attempt to murder. They were first sent in police remand and later sent to judicial custody. Nine others detained during the protest were also released from Bathinda Central Jail. The decision followed a consensus reached on Wednesday between the committee and a panel led by Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to call off the agitation, which began on October 13.
As part of the agreement, the post-mortem examination of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh, alias Jhota, will be conducted by a board of doctors at PGIMER, Chandigarh. His body is expected to be shifted there for the examination on Friday.
