ROHTAK, Sept. 23 -- A 52-year-old assistant sub-inspector posted at Bahadurgarh city police station in Jhajjar district was arrested by the Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs.1.5 lakh. The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar of Makrauli village in Rohtak. He was investigating a case registered at Bahadurgarh city police station. Police said he demanded money to drop the names of the complainant's wife, sister-in-law and father-in-law from the case. According to the bureau, he first sought Rs.3 lakh and after negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs.1.5 lakh. Following a complaint about the demand, the Rohtak vigilance team led by inspector Devender Singh laid a trap as per procedure and arrested him red-handed while accepting the cash. htc...
