Srinagar, Oct. 9 -- Chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced the notification of the Jammu and Kashmir City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy, 2026, marking a push to expand clean energy access, lower fuel costs, and modernise energy infrastructure across the Union Territory. Approved by the council of ministers, the policy establishes a time-bound framework to roll out piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) for households, commercial units, industries and transport across all 20 districts. To accelerate project execution, the policy introduces single-window clearances, streamlined rules for setting up CNG stations, and standardised right of way norms.
