J&K govt to shift base to Srinagar on May 4 as part of Darbar Move
Jammu, April 16 -- After six months functioning in the winter capital, Jammu and Kashmir government will shift its base to summer capital Srinagar next month as part of the bi-annual 'Darbar Move', officials said.
As per a general administration department (GAD) order, all the offices observing a five-day work week will close in winter capital Jammu on April 30, while those observing a six-day week will close on May 2.
All these offices, including the CM's office, will reopen in Srinagar on May 4, the order issued by Commissioner M Raju said.
It said the offices moving in 'camp' shall carry only 33 per cent of staff strength or a minimum of 10 officials, with the rest staying back in Jammu and continuing to operate from there.
The Civil Secretariat, along with 38 other departments, will move to Srinagar in full, while 47 offices will shift in 'camp' mode.The Estates department shall provide accommodation to the employees, as per past practices.Last year, the Omar Abdullah government fulfilled its poll promise by reviving the bi-annual move, shifting the Civil Secretariat and other offices from Srinagar to Jammu on November 3 after a four-year hiatus.
The Darbar Move, introduced by Dogra rulers nearly 150 years ago, was stopped by lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha in June 2021, citing the administration's complete transition to e-office, which could help save Rs.200 crore per year.pti...
