LUCKNOW, Aug. 17 -- A deputy inspector general of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and his driver were killed while his gunner and three occupants of another car were injured in a head-on collision on the Dehradun-Panchkula National Highway in Saharanpur district on Saturday morning. The accident took place when the official vehicle, a Mahindra Scorpio, carrying DIG Paraminder Singh, 48, a Rupnagar native, allegedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Swift Dzire coming from the other direction. Police rushed the injured to a hospital, where doctors confirmed the deaths of Singh and his driver Ravi Shankar, 35. Singh was posted in Srinagar, officials said, adding he had completed training in Mussoorie and was travelling to Ambala for official work when the accident occurred.HTC...
