Chandigarh, July 9 -- Amid the ongoing internal rift within the Punjab Congress, party's state general secretary in-charge Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday ruled out any change in the state leadership, saying these decisions were not "gudda-guddi ka khel" (child's play). "Once the high command takes a decision, it does not change. Koi gudda-guddi ka khel hai kya ki baar-baar nirnay badla jaega (Is this a child's play that the decision will be changed repeatedly)?" Baghel said while speaking to reporters here. He said the three working presidents of the Punjab Congress and other party leaders appreciated the new appointments during his meetings with them. He added that he was also in constant touch with Jalandhar MP and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who is reportedly miffed at not being appointed the state president. "There is no dissidence and any minor issues will be sorted out. Everyone belongs to the Congress, and Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are our leaders. We will contest the elections unitedly and bring the Congress back to power in Punjab," he said. On July 1, the Congress announced that Amarinder Singh Raja Warring would continue as the Punjab unit president and appointed Channi as chairperson of the campaign committee. Baghel arrived in Punjab, which goes to polls early next year, on a five-day visit on Monday and has met a number of leaders since then. Channi, however, has skipped these meetings. Several senior leaders held a meeting in Mohali in Channi's presence on Monday, daysafter several incumbent and former MLAs threw their weight behind him to be reconsidered for the state unit chief's post. On Wednesday, Baghel met senior leaders and former ministers Kaka Randeep Singh, Rakesh Pandey, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and MP Dr Amar Singh at the residence of Kaka Randeep Singh. A day earlier, Rana Kanwarpal Singh hosted a dinner for Baghel, which was attended by several leaders except those from the Channi camp. While not attending Baghel's meetings for the third consecutive day, Channi said Rahul Gandhi was his leader and will always remain so. Interacting with the media at his residence, the Jalandhar MP said he will abide by whatever strategy the party decides and move forward accordingly, but did not comment on the ongoing rebellion. The Channi camp, which on July 3 gave the party seven days to reconsider its decision, is likely to meet again. "We are not against the party, but we want someone at the helm who can steer the party towards victory," said a former minister. He said during his phone conversation with Baghel, he conveyed that party workers wanted a change and decisive leadership. "We will finalise our strategy soon," he said, adding that the group's leaders will not meet Baghel and will instead apprise the high command of the workers' sentiments....
