Infertility treatments in India
India, April 26 -- Infertility treatments have advanced significantly worldwide, achieving high success rates. Indian centres offer world-class facilities at markedly lower costs, with outcomes comparable to - or even better than - those at leading international centres. With a strong combination of expertise, technology and affordability, India has emerged as a major hub for medical tourism.
A full range of basic and advanced treatments is available here, including In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is now regulated under the Assisted Reproductive Technology Act, 2021, along with the Surrogacy Act. Most centres are registered with authorities and operate within a strict legal framework.
Indian doctors are widely recognised for their compassionate and empathetic approach in supporting fertility patients, who often experience emotional vulnerability. Social attitudes in India are also evolving, with increasing acceptance of fertility treatments such as IVF. Male partners, too, are becoming more involved and willing to seek treatment. The rising age at marriage and delayed first childbirth are key factors contributing to the growing incidence of infertility. However, with access to world-class facilities and expertise, the outlook for fertility patients in India remains bright and optimistic.
