New Delhi/mumbai/lucknow, Sept. 25 -- India opened its track and field medal account at the 2026 Asian Games on Thursday, with the mixed 4x400m relay team securing silver and Seema Kumari clinching bronze in a world class women's 10,000m field. The quartet of TS Manu, MR Poovamma, TK Vishal and Vithya Ramraj clocked 3:14.46 to finish second. Kumari, the long-distance runner from Chamba, came second behind Bahrain's Yavi Winfred and Japan's Tanaka Nozomi in 32:50.05. Roshibina Devi won her third consecutive medal at the evnt, clinching silver after losing to Zhang Xiaoyu in the women's 60kg wushu final. The mixed skeet team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal added bronze, taking India's shooting tally in Aichi-Nagoya to eight medals.
