NEW DELHI, Aug. 8 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met a group of lawmakers from the National Democratic Alliance and instructed them to participate in parliamentary proceedings while balancing their responsibilities towards their states and the country at large, said people aware of the details. According to a person aware of the details, the PM interacted with a group that included the 20 rebel Trinamool Congress lawmakers who joined the Nationalist Congress Party of India, seven Shiv Sena MPs who switched sides from the Shiv Sena (UBT), one National People's Party (NPP) MP, and two Nationalist Congress Party members. "He was emphatic that as lawmakers we must ensure that parliamentary proceedings are not disrupted and we should all work for the welfare and development of our constituencies. He gave the examples of West Bengal and said India will progress when all the states progress," said a person aware of the details.
