Dharamshala, June 20 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted rainfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh till June 25, and has sounded a yellow alert of thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts of the state from June 20 to 22. According to the weather office, light to moderate showers are expected at many places on June 20 and 21, while light to moderate rainfall is expected at a few places on June 22 and 25 and at isolated places on June 23 and 24. A yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds has been sounded in ten districts of the state on June 20 and 21 and in 7 districts on June 22. MeT department officials said that maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4 degrees over many parts of the state during the next 3-4 days. Similarly, the minimum temperatures are also expected to fall by 2-3 degrees over many parts of the state during the next 2-3 days. Thereafter, they will likely rise by 2-3 degrees over many parts of the state during subsequent 2-3 days. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain at few places was observed over the state. The highest rainfall of 31.2 mm was recorded in Saloni, followed by Sangrah (20 mm), Rajgarh (20 mm), Dharamshala (18 mm), Jot (12 mm), Kotkhai (11.3 mm), Bhareri (11.2 mm), Solan (6.8 mm), Pachhad (6 mm), Bharmaur (3 mm), Dehra Gopipur (2.4 mm) and Una (2.2 mm). While the normal onset date of southwest monsoon in Himachal is June 20 to 25, the IMD officials on Friday said that they are still in the monitoring phase and might get some indications in the next few days. Meanwhile, on Friday, the average maximum temperatures in the state remained below normal. Una was the hottest in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius. It was followed by a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius recorded in Neri and 33.7 degrees Celsius in Sundernagar as well as in Berthin. Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, where maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dharamshala and Manali respectively....
