Panchkula, July 18 -- The Amaravati police post team busted an illegal mining operation near the Burj Kotian river area on Thursday, officials said. According to Panchkula deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Aditi Singh, at around 5pm on Thursday, the Amaravati police post team received a tip-off that illegal mining was taking place near the river in Burjkotian. The police believed that the suspects might escape if they saw a police vehicle or officers in uniform. Amaravati police post in-charge sub-inspector Pritam Singh, along with ASI Chiranjee Lal and ASI Kashmiri Singh borrowed a motorcycle from local residents and, dressed in plain clothes, headed to the spot like ordinary citizens. As the police team reached near the location, the tractor driver became suspicious and tried to flee. The police immediately chased the tractor on the motorcycle and stopped it after a short distance.
