Mohali, Aug. 10 -- Zirakpur police have registered a case against a man and his parents after the wife alleged that her husband and in-laws harassed her over dowry and assaulted her during her marriage. According to the complaint, the woman, married in November 2023 and moved to her matrimonial home in Sector 4, Panchkula. She alleged that her husband and in-laws soon began demanding dowry, including a high-end SUV and Rs.20 lakh in cash. She also alleged that the accused subjected her to physical assault, verbal abuse and mental harassment over the demands. According to her complaint, the accused forcibly turned her out of the house late at night in March 2026. The woman further alleged that her identity documents and personal belongings remained with her in-laws after she left the matrimonial home. She later approached the police with a complaint seeking action against the accused.
