Chandigarh, April 14 -- The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Monday paid tributes to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, former finance minister Lal Singh and pilgrims who died in the boat tragedy in Uttar Pradesh. During the special session of the state assembly, the House paid tribute to Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. Bhosle breathed her last at a Mumbai hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday evening due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. Besides Bhosle, the House paid respects to Congress leader Lal Singh, who passed away on March 28. The House also paid tributes to 13 people, most of them from Punjab, who were killed when a boat carrying pilgrims capsized in the Yamuna River in Mathura on April 10. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls during the obituary references.HTC...
