Mohali, Dec. 15 -- A 25-year-old hotel employee died after falling into a lift shaft at a private hotel located on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway on Sunday morning. The victim was identified as Raja, a resident of old Panchkula. According to police, Raja was descending in the elevator with his friend Ravi when it stopped mid-air due to a technical fault. Panicking, Raja did not wait for help and tried to force open the lift door. When the door partially opened, he attempted to step out but instead fell into the lift shaft. He hit his head against an iron angle and suffered severe injuries. Hotel staff rushed to the spot and shifted him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police reached the site and began an investigation. Investigating officer sub-inspector Jeevan Singh said action had been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The body has been sent for postmortem will be handed over to the family afterwards. Police are examining all aspects of the incident.....
