Chandigarh, May 5 -- An employee of Haryana Power GenerationCorporation Limited (HPGCL), allegedly summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in the Rs.590-crore IDFC bank fraud case, jumped to death from the eighth floor of the Haryanasecretariat building in Sector 1 on Monday afternoon. The development follows the Haryana government'sdismissal of HPGCL chief financial officer Amit Dewan in connection with the case. According to the visitor pass issued to the deceased, he had gone to the office of thecontroller of accounts, HPGCL in the secretariat building. While the pass was issued around 10.30 am, he took this step around 3.30 pm. A police official privy to the matter said no suicide note was recovered from his possession but those present at the scene indicated that he had beendistressed over the CBIquestioning.
