Chandigarh, Aug. 19 -- Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday stripped cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh of the power portfolio, reallocating it to newly inducted minister Sanjeev Arora. Singh, who held the charge of the power department from the very start of the AAP government, is left with only the public works (buildings and roads) department. With this addition, Arora now holds the industry and commerce, investment promotion, NRI affairs, and power portfolios, according to a notification issued by the general administration department on the chief minister's advice. Arora, who won the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll on June 23, was inducted into the cabinet on July 3. The reshuffle comes just days after thousands of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) observed a four-day "tools down, pen down" strike to press their demands related to salary, the old pension scheme, and recruitment of regular staff to address manpower shortages.
