Gurdaspur SDM arrested in fund bungling case
Amritsar, May 17 -- Gurdaspur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Anupreet Kaur Randhawa was on Saturday arrested from her official residence in connection with a seven-year-old embezzlement case involving Rs.1.63 crore meant for land acquisition for National Highway 54 (NH-54), connecting Jammu to Rajasthan via Amritsar and Bathinda.
"A police team from Patti raided the Gurdaspur residence of Randhawa, a 2012-batch Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer, and arrested her," Tarn Taran senior superintendent of police Surendra Lamba said.
The scam dates back to 2019 when Anupreet was serving as the SDM of Patti and acted as the competent authority for land acquisition.
