Chandigarh, Aug. 11 -- The 5th edition of the Andrew John Gosain Memorial Handball Tournament officially commenced on August 8 at the handball courts of St Xavier's Senior Secondary School. The annual event is being organised in memory of Andrew John Gosain. It aims to promote excellence in sports while instilling core values of discipline, teamwork, and healthy competition among young athletes. The tournament features Under-19 girls' teams competing in a high-intensity league format. A total of eight leading school teams from across the Tricity region-Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula-are now going head-to-head for the prestigious championship title. Results of the matches played on day two are as- Match-4: Govt Model High School, Sector 38, Chandigarh defeated Divya Public School, Sector 44, Chandigarh by (17-6). Half-time score was (8-3). Winner: Sahiba-6, Riya-5, Mahira-2, Tanisha-2, Samardeep-2; Looser: Karmanjeet-3, Sonam-1, Bhavna-1, Bhavya-1. Match-5: DAV Sr Sec School (Lahore), Sector 8, Chandigarh defeated Yadavindra Public School, Sector 51, Mohali by (12-4); Half-time score was (10-3). Winner: Vaishnavi-3, Prabhnoor-3, Japjee-2, Darshleen-2, Harmannat-1, Veena-1; Looser: Gunjeet-2, Kishika-1, Guneet-1.
