India, Sept. 26 -- As Ganeshotsav culminated with visarjan on Friday, actor Rupali Ganguly bid an emotional farewell to Bappa, who she says has been a constant in her life. "Main seven years old thi tab se har saal Lalbaugcha Raja jaa rahi hoon. Yeh unhi ki kripa hai ki har saal woh mujhe bulaate hain aur mujhe unke darshan ka mauka milta hai," she says. Ganguly, 49, says she has not missed the darshan in 42 years, even visiting just 13-14 days after giving birth to her son. "Times have changed, but the connection and bond have remained the same," she says, adding, "Ganpati Bappa to me means new beginnings. Ganpati Bappa is my bestie, my sibling, my baby." The celebrations at home, she says, are simple. "We don't do ostentatious decorations. Fancy kuch nahi hota. For 37 years, humare ghar shudh maati ki murti hi aa rahi hai," Ganguly tells us, recalling how her mother refused to bring home a Plaster of Paris idol. Her childhood Ganeshotsav meant pandal-hopping with her mother. "Jahan-jahan Ganpati pandal hota tha, hum jaate the. Kabhi ek din mein 11 pandals karte the, kabhi 21 pandals. That was our Ganpati (celebration)." The tradition continues. "Main har saal jaati rahungi. Marte dam tak main mere Raja ke darshan karti rahungi," she says....
