New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Gandhi on Monday interviewed numerous party leaders as the Congress plans to appoint a number of secretaries to boost the organisation. At least 30 interviews were conducted in batches. According to two leaders aware of the process, Gandhi met aspirants in a few batches but he was "not happy" to see a large number of newly elected district presidents of the Congress to appear for the "interview", said a senior leader. According to a senior leader, "Gandhi felt that the district level leaders should focus on their current responsibility-- to strengthen the grassroot-level organisation-- and not try to secure promotion by becoming secretaries of the party in Delhi." In the coming days, more such meetings might be organised, the leader said.
