Forest officer held for third marriage, still wed to 2nd wife
Dehradun, July 18 -- Police arrested a forest department officer for allegedly concealing that he was still legally married and contracting another marriage without obtaining a divorce from his second wife, officials said on Friday. The accused, sub-divisional officer (SDO) Rajiv Nayan Nautiyal, was booked at Vikasnagar police station on July 12 under Sections 64 (rape), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 316(1) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4) (cheating), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on a complaint lodged by a woman from Rishikesh.
The complainant met Nautiyal through a matrimonial website, where he concealed that he was yet to get divorce from his second wife. The two got married in February. Police said the rape charge was invoked as she alleged physical harassment, saying their marriage is void since the officer had not legally divorced his second wife....
