Foetus found in B'luru factory toilet, probe on
Bengaluru, April 24 -- Police have registered a case after a foetus was found in a women's toilet at the Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Private Limited premises in Devanahalli, according to officers aware of the matter even as the company said that it was cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, they said.
According to police, the incident came to light at the A41 building of the facility located in Doddagollahalli village under Vishwanathapura police station limits.
In a statement, the company said, "Foxconn is aware of the situation and has been closely cooperating with local authorities in their investigation. The well-being of our employees is our foremost concern and we are providing additional support to all of our team members in Bengaluru. Due to the sensitive nature of the matter and to protect the privacy of those involved, we are unable to provide further comments."
Officers said the foetus was recovered following a complaint by a company employee.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with concealment of birth by secretly disposing of the body of a child, and Section 103, which pertains to punishment for murder, if evidence later establishes intentional killing.
