Fire at GMSH-16 blood bank, no casualty
Chandigarh, June 3 -- A minor fire broke out in the blood bank of Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16 on Tuesday morning. Preliminary assessment suggests the fire occurred due to a short circuit in the air conditioning unit installed in the blood bank area. No one was injured during the incident, the hospital administration said.
The incident was first detected by the staff on duty, who immediately alerted security personnel. The security staff responded without delay and extinguished the fire.
Senior hospital authorities, including the director health services (DHS), medical superintendent (MS), deputy medical superintendent (DMS), and the incharge blood bank, reached the site and reviewed the situation.
No damage to blood stocks, equipment, records, or infrastructure has been reported. A technical inspection is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and to recommend further preventive measures, read an official statement by the health department....
