Film on ageing women draws packed house at Tagore Theatre
Chandigarh, April 25 -- A documentary about two elderly women confronting mortality drew a multigenerational audience to Tagore Theatre on Friday, sparking a conversation that lingered well beyond the screening.
''Aunty Sudha Aunty Radha', directed by Tanuja Chandra and produced by Anupama Mandloi, follows two spirited women navigating old age with candour and quiet dignity, a sharp departure from how Indian cinema typically portrays the elderly.
The screening, organised by the Chandigarh Citizens Foundation (CCF) with support from ICICI Bank, was followed by a panel discussion where Chandra spoke frankly about the uphill battle of financing and distributing women centric films. "Progress has been made, but deeper shifts in perspective are still needed," she said.
Several younger viewers said the film prompted them to reconnect with their own ageing relatives.The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony for the filmmakers, presided over by General VP Malik (retd), Neelam Man Singh Chaudhary, ML Sarin and Balamurugan.HTC...
