Ludhiana, June 20 -- A father-son duo has been booked for allegedly siphoning off nearly Rs.1.5 crore from a private nursing institute in Ludhiana by diverting students' fee payments into their personal bank accounts over more than a decade, police said. The accused, Rajinder Kumar Bhatia and his son Sunny Bhatia, residents of Narinder Nagar, allegedly misused their positions in the management of Satguru Institute of Nursing in Guru Arjun Dev Nagar to channel fees collected from students into personal accounts instead of the institute's official bank accounts between 2013 and April 2025. The case was registered by Division No. 7 police on the complaint of Harpal Singh, a member of the institute's management committee, who alleged that the duo embezzled around Rs.1.5 crore through the diversion of fee payments. Police said the complaint was submitted on April 18, 2025, following which an inquiry was conducted by senior officers.
