F&CC approves 67 devp works worth Rs.14 cr for chandigarh
Chandigarh, April 28 -- The finance and contract committee (F&CC) of the municipal corporation Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of mayor Saurabh Joshi, approved a record 67 development agenda items amounting to Rs.14.71 crores marking one of the highest-ever approvals in the civic body's history.
The meeting, attended by MC commissioner Amit Kumar and committee members namely Harjeet Singh, Jasbeer Singh Bunty, Kanwarjeet Singh, Yogesh Dhingra and other senior officers of MCC, focused on accelerating infrastructure development and enhancing civic amenities across the city.
Key approvals include renovation of multiple community centres in Sunder Nagar, Sector 49, Sector 41, Sector 43 and Sector 56; upgrade of markets in Sectors 7, 22 and 37-38 with decorative and LED lighting; and installation and replacement of street lighting systems, including octagonal poles in Sectors 27 and 28.
Major emphasis was laid on road and street infrastructure, with extensive works approved for paver blocks, footpaths, internal streets, parking areas, and berm strengthening across sectors and villages like Attawa, Hallomajra and Mauli Jagran.
The committee also sanctioned public health and sanitation works, including construction and renovation of multiple public toilet blocks, sewerage strengthening in EWS colonies, SWD pipelines, and repairs at water works and boundary walls.
Green initiatives include landscaping of parks and green belts, repair of fountains, development of open spaces, and installation of play equipment and benches.
