New Delhi, Oct. 25 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a Delhi resident Baneet Singh Talwar, the brother of a key accused in 2021 drug bust at Mundra port in Gujarat, Harpreet Singh Talwar alias Kabir Talwar, in connection with large scale smuggling of drugs concealed in semi-processed talc in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, the federal agency said on Saturday. The Mundra port drug bust of around 3,000 kg Afghan heroin worth Rs.21,000 crore, intercepted in September 2021, was one of the biggest consignments ever which came to India via maritime route. Harpeet, a clubbing tycoon, was arrested by the NIA in August 2022 and later charged with taking part in ISI-backed conspiracy to smuggle drugs into India.
